West Lyon Farm residences include a series of 124 wood-framed homes constructed as free-standing units with detached garages, plus three small enclaves of 31 townhouse homes with attached garages. The layout of the units and simple architectural details were intended to evoke a New England-style village.
There are nine different models of homes ranging in size from 1,700 to 4,300 square feet. Each model has a unique floor plan created to appeal to a range of occupants’ needs. Truly, no two units are exactly alike. The rolling hills and rocky topography of the property shapes the layout of individual homes. They were designed to nestle into their own private spaces with some sitting atop a knoll with distant views, and some enjoying a woodland setting.
The units’ exterior windows, entryways, decks, and patios were planned with privacy in mind. Over the years, some residences have been individually personalized while remaining consistent with the style and character of the community as established by and approved by WLFCA’s Board of Directors. All the exterior walls are protected with cedar siding. The pitched roofs are covered with fiberglass shingles accented with copper lined valleys. The detached garages, each of which has an easy-access pedestrian door, fit two cars comfortably and offer additional room for storage on the sides and overhead.
